Medical Records Coordinator

(Full Time) 

Welcome to St. Francis Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare! Our 275-bed facility, provides a warm and caring environment for short-term rehab patients, and long- term residents including memory care. Our team of seasoned staff work together to offer excellent service and care to each resident.

The Medical Records Coordinator plays a key function in the care and services provided to the residents in the facility. The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible to maintain resident medical records and health information systems in compliance with current federal and state guidelines, as well as facility privacy policies and procedures. With strong knowledge of Clinical/ Long Term Care terminology and regulations regarding medical coding and reporting, the Coordinator will be successful in tracking, documenting and maintaining all medical information for the residents.

Responsibilities Include: 

  •  Maintains records of active and discharged residence in accordance with established systems
  • Helps record incidents/accidents in the facility and files in accordance with policies and procedure
  • Retrieves patient records (manually/electronically) and delivers as necessary
  • Records and files information such as nurse’s notes, resident assessments, progress notes, laboratory reports, x-ray results, etc., into resident charts
  • Reviews all records to ensure ICD-10-CM and DRG coding is complete and accurate
  • Generates reports as necessary
  • Responds to requests for medical record copies in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, and maintains a log of all requests
  • Conducts regular audits of active and discharged medical records to determine quality, accuracy, and completeness of content
  • Performs other job duties as required

Qualifications:

High School Degree or Equivalent
Experience with ICD-10 coding system preferred
Previous clerical experience preferred
